Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor Daily Tour by Sam

After our first trip to Gua Tempurung & Sg. Klah Hot Spring, this time is Sam's turn to organize tour to Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor. We - urban kids are alway wondering how's it like living among paddy fields and fishing villages... Though very tired after the team building, without hesitation I gave my promised to join. This time we have a new member - 'Lin Lin' and missed out Elbert.

With the aching and tired body we met in HK's house again. I'm the first person to reach there again followed by KS and Sam. Good to have fun with them again ;) Ei, missing one participant. KS told us this bad news - 'Lin Lin' can't join us cause she's still in Genting... HUH?? Promise to join yet now in Genting??? Then only found out that she's 'FFK Queen'- those who like to break promise.

As usual Mac-D breakfast again :S I'll skip that since we'll be having another breakfast in Sekinchan. I'll reserved my stomach for that.

Once reach Sekinchan, we went around for "Soon Guan Restaurant" - famous for fish head dish. The '老板娘' (lady boss) was a very nice and friendly lady. Since only 4 of us, she introduced us to take the whole fish instead of fish head since all the fish head is too large and 'Romaine lettuce'.

According to the '老板娘', she just boiled the fish and added ithe seasoning like sesame oil, light soy sauce garnishing with slices of red onion, spring onion and coriander leaves. Once it's served, she squeezed in the lime juice to bring out the freshness of the fish. Though it just a simple dish but the lime juice really bring out our appetite.

The Romaine lettuce was a simple oily vege style cook which is called as '油菜' in Chinese. With the friend onion and garlic on top of the lettuce really give a great aroma to this simple oily Romaine lettuce.

When she saw that we didn't really cleaned up the fish, she teaches us how to eat the fish especially the fish head. There're a lot of good stuff there such as fish eyes and the fish brain. You need to suck the brain juice from the fish brain where all the essence was there.

Sam gave us a demo on how to eat the fish eyes.

Due to the fish was so fresh and delicious. Sam and HK are two of the fish cleaner. You can just found bone left on the plate. The whole meal just cost us RM32 for the fish, lettuce, rice and tea.

Before coming to Sekinchan,my friend had told me that the paddy harvest is over. I never gave up and asked the '老板娘' again. She told us that the paddy already being harvested in Sekinchan but... Sungai Besar just started and it's just around 30 minutes from there. Huray!!! "I don't care, I want to go though it's not in the itinerary!", I told Sam.

Some of the 'Matrix Post' in Sekinchan harvested paddy field. Haha......

Wah, finally I have the chance to view the ocean of golden paddy in Sungai Besar. Without any delay, I just jumped down with my camera and took pictures around ;)

Enjoying ourselves in the pool of golden paddy.

Later we went to the fishing village. Today the fisherman will be coming back late as told by the '老板娘' thus we don't have the chance to see the lively fish market. We just loaf around the temple and beach near by the fish village.

Guess what? I found this lovely tree, how could I missed climbing? 'Monkey Gal' is coming... Hehe.....

Enjoying myself under the shaded tree after being a 'Monkey Gal'. Give a peace!

We just have a light lunch at one of the Malay stall there. And we're cheated by the price list on the wall. The price is RM0.50 - RM1 higher than the price list :(

Later we spend the whole afternoon at Kuala Selangor Nature Park - Taman Alam (RM4 per pax). We didn't bring binocular along thus it was a rather boring and tiring visit. The park looked much more like being neglected and abandoned.

Around 5pm we went up Bukit Malawati with tram (RM2 per pax) which is located next to Taman Alam. You'll never imagine the fortress was full of silvered-leaf monkey. There was an unexpected free show shown by the silvered-leaf monkey.

The moment we have waited arrived after the long walked at Taman Alam - seafood dinner!!! Sam had did some homework and found that there are two recommended restaurant at Pasir Penambang - "Jetty Seafood Restaurant" and "River View Seafood Restaurant". We have picked the later.

As recommended we tried out the crab(cooked with milk and curry powder), steam mantis shrimp, oyster omelette, fried bun for the crab source and one vege cooked in thai style.

Of course, we ordered the fresh coconut since we're so exhausted. Coconut water was the best drink to cool down our temperature and thirst. The bil ended at RM80. It's just nice for 4 of us, not too full like alway. The price was reasonable.

The rain didn't stopped after our dinner. We waited until 8pm and finally the rain became lighter. It will be the highlight of this tour - Kampung Kuantan Fireflies Park which is famous for "kelip-kelip" (fireflies). The rain stopped when we reached there. It cost RM40 per boat for 4 pax. Just nice. Luckily 'Lin Lin' didn't come.

Unexpectedly I met with my Form 5 classmate who origin from Tanjung Karang. Actually this morning I just thought of her. What a small world.

Too bad that I can't took pictures of the sparkling christmas tree. Please do visit it as soon as possible as the population is becoming lesser and lesser due to global warming and pollution.

Sponsor A Child

Today I managed to open my gmail account which I have had forgotten a few years back. Luckily it's not being de-activated yet.

Like alway top down approach. I opened the very first email dated back at 2nd November 2007. "Sponsor a child with RM50 per month" have captured my vision. I have always wanted to sponsor a child but never took any initiative to search about it. Last week I read an article about Michael Wong - local famous singer shared his experience of poverty in Laos with his sponsored children from newspaper. Yet due to my laziness I just ignored it.

Today by fate and chance I found this email which lead me to World Vision Malaysia - child sponsorship changes lives... Without any hesitation I sign up for the sponsorship. It just took me about 5 minutes to fill in all the particulars. On Monday, I'll print out the credit card form and mail them as soon as possible.

I don't want to be regret for not doing anything for these children who needed my helping hand. Although RM50 is not a very huge amount of money but I hope with this little help, they have a better chance of living, treasure and explore this world. Hope that all of you who have read my blog give a helping hand to them as well :) It's never too late to do good for the society.

Goodbye UC...

Today is my last day serving in UC. It was hard for me to leave this nice and friendly working environment. After long consideration and a few days of sleepless night, I have decided to leave UC.

I was in a rushed where I have a farewell dinner with my supervisor and teammate at T.G.I. FRiDAY's, Subang Parade at 8:15pm. Before leaving, I still have the chance to play ping pong with JJ, KS and Sam. I have to take revenge on KS who had hit my eyes the day before with ping pong ball!!! Guess what? While they were helping me to have a nice smash to hit KS the ping pong ball accidentally hit one of the developer's head and quickly I hid under the ping pong table while my partner - JJ quickly squad down and hid in the cubical next to the ping pong table. While the other people who watched the match, laughed none stop and some was excusing JJ since he ran away so fast. Haha...... I'll miss my 'ping pong kaki' in UC - humor and friendly colleagues.

I just managed to snap a few pictures with my colleagues before I left. Miss out the ping pong team. Sorry guys! :(

Before 8pm, I was on my way to Subang Parade. Luckily I was not late, just on time. First time in TGI Friday's. Browsed through the menu for a few time, what should I order??? The waitress recommended us a appetizer "Three for all" while we're waiting for Elbert. Elbert came in 10 minutes later with a big present for me. A bit surprised. Wondering what's inside. We decided to share the food. We have later ordered a Cream of Mushroom Soup, Jack Daniel's Chicken & Shrimp, World Famous Barbecue Burger and Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken and Herbs.

I like "Three for all" - a winning combination of Loaded Potato Skins, Fried Mozzarella and tangy Buffalo Wings. Served with sour cream and chives, marinara sauce, Bleu Cheese dressing and celery sticks especially the Loaded Potato Skins.

Jack Daniel's Chicken and Shrimp - juicy fire-grilled breast drizzled with TGI famous Jack Daniel's source and crispy Cajun -spiced friend shrimp. When the grilled breast chicken was served hot, it was very nice with the Jack Daniel's source. I like the smash potatoes as well.

Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken and Herbs - different from normal tomato or white source pasta. The taste was refreshing with the sauteed sliced chicken breast. If you like garlic probably you'll like this pasta.

This will be the last picture I have with my supervisor - PT and teammate - Elbert, as well as YS - being striked by my ping pong ball on the head. Really sorry about it YS. Last but not least, I wish UC continue success in all your endeavors. I'll always remember the precious moment we have shared in UC.

20080703-06 - Diving at Lang Tengah Island

We took around 2 hours depart from Merang Jetty to Lang Tengah Island. I was so bored and I just fall aslept easily on the boat. Wah, the water was crystal clear. The sand was soft and it's much more beautiful than Phuket! We'll be staying 4 days 3 nights at Redang Lang Island Resort.

This is the room which we need to share for 4 persons. A bit small compare to the hostel we stayed yesterday night but the bed is more comfortable with the warm blanket which I like alot :)

The dive center at Redang Lang Island Resort. Behind the diving sign board, we found this 'idiom' on it - "There was a time when sex was safe and diving is dangerous".

The first day was rather disappointed because it was raining after our first dive but it was a good time to sleep after long journey as we're pretty tired by then.

The next day, was a sunny day. It had been thousand year long I didn't saw rainbow. I quickly rushed to take my camera just for this faded rainbow. The life on the island was like eating, diving, resting, tanning... 4 meals was provided breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner. The foods was really nice and alot of variety. I like the BBQ sting fish, bally water and crab meatball.

On the first day, we're required to do equipment assembly, half mask clearing, regulator recovery, sharing buddy alternate air source and swimming underwater where we need to control our buoyancy.

On the second day morning, we have our second dive. We need to do some higher challenge skill such as full mask clearing, underwater buoyancy control. I encounter problem of getting down and keep on floating up :( The assistance dive master trying hard to pull me down to the bottom of the sea as the depth has been increased compare to yesterday. She added more weight for me in order to let me sank into the bottom. I couldn't really control myself down bottom at the sea. I was imbalance and trying hard to stay still underwater.

In the afternoon, we have our third dive. This time, I added another weight and have no problem getting down to the sea :) This time we need to do 'lotus sit' post, mask removal and neutral buoyancy control. When it was Eileen turn for the mask removal, she was a bit panic and accidentally got chocked by the sea water, she dropped her weight belt and inflate her BCD, and directly went up the surface. When the dive master saw this situation, she stopped the test and just let us dive freely as a chance to practice our neutral buoyancy.

I saw the clown anemonefish and tend to play with them. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the animone was poisoness and accidently touched on it on the back of my left hand while I was trying to catch the clown anemonefish. I felt that it was jut like burning. The second time when I saw those clown anemonefish again, I didn't dare to touch the anemone but trying to attrach the clown anemonefish out from there and managed to touch them :)

On the third day morning, we'll need to take boat ride to the center of the sea and do the sitting back roll entry. At first it was kind of scared but then once you enter the sea, nothing is horrible. My buddy was Joey, a girl who shared room with us. While we was descending together, she encounter problem to descend, probably she couldn't equalized herself. I was in doubt at first whether to go up or went down. I think the assistance dive master will get hold of her and just went down with the others. The condition underwater was a bit bad as the current was quite strong. For us - novice diver, we encounter problem to fight the strong current. We have to kick in full strenght in order to move forward a bit. Every kick we made, we were driven back by the current. We lost another 2 of the diver under the water. The dive master failed to locate them as the water was not clear due to the strong current. Later we just ascent and waited for the others.

In the afternoon, we have our last dive which is away from the beach and as deep as 18 m. I have some problem equalizing myself when I was getting down the sea. I alway have problem to equalize my left ear. It was a great pain on my left ear when I failed to equalize it. Trying hard to equalize myself in order to get to the bottom of the sea. Eventually I'm down there. Learning to balanced myself with neutral buoyancy I don't really look around at those beautiful and significant coral and fish around. While I was enjoying myself following the dive master, suddenly someone got hold of me at my back. I was stunned for a movement. Luckily I didn't struggle to free myself. Later I saw a brown skin with black spot at around 12 inch width. I was wondering what's it. Then I turned my head over to the hole and saw this huge brown skin owner, it's and eel's head. We were having direct eye to eye contact. I stop my breath for a while cause I don't want to make it 'angry' with me for disturbing ......

Finally I have finished all the skills required to pass as a qualified diver ;) I'll be getting my diving license soon. Will post it once I got it.

20080702 - One Night Stay at Kuala Terengganu

"Today I need to leave earlier, is that ok?" asking my supervisor. "OK". That's just great. Counting down the time to leave. 5:20pm sharp, I received my friend's call and started to pack my things. Yet, when he's waiting outside my company, I'm still on my desk :( Dragging my luggage with thousand pair of eyes watching me, damn embarrassed...

Need to fetch my cousin and her friend as well. Yiks, fireflyz delayed our flight from 20:05 to 20:40. It's kind of early when we reached Subang Airport. It was under renovation - hot and dusty. The escalator was not even moving at all. We have to drag our luggage through the stair cases. :(

We have our dinner at Butler's - one and the only one fast food around this old Subang Airport. I ordered "fish sandwich" which look quite different from the pictures, Eileen - my cousin ordered fried chicken meanwhile her friend - Veron ordered the waffle. The friend chicken was tasty and not oily(according to Eileen) but the waffle seems not cooked(according to Veron). The fries also not well cooked...

After our dinner, we waited for another 1 hour plus before departed to Kuala Terengganu. I managed to capture the sunset. The flight took an hour from Subang Airport to Sultan Mahmud Airport - Kuala Terengganu.

The architecture of the airport was full of Malay culture and artistic. The Malay carving can be easily seen on the stair case. Without any delay, we have our luggage in around 5 minutes. A bit unbelievable.

We took a cab to our hostel - Ping Anchorage Backpacker Lodge located at Jalan Sultan Sulaiman. We shared it with a lady whom we hardly knew (RM25 per car).

We carried our heavy scuba diving gear until the 2nd floor. Where we're almost out of breath... Wah, the room was so large. Em, where is the blanket? I needed blanket :'( At night I just used my towel as my blanket or else I'll be freeze to death......

I woke up pretty early since I needed to go to the morning market to buy 'keropok' (fish cracker) for my colleagues. Veron and me left at around 8am but we ended up in the wrong direction and wasted half and hour loafing around Kuala Terengganu town. Actually the morning market is just around 5 minutes walk away from Ping Anchorage.

When we reached the morning market it was a bit late and the driver promised to pick us up at 9am. My luggage was too full so I just managed to buy 5 small packet of 'keropok' just like the pictures seen on the left corner.

On our way back to the hostel, we passed by the palace and a nice white mosque. The driver came to fetch us sharp at 9am. Wow, it's not Malaysian time after all.
