20090110 - Melacca Day Tour

This is a day trip without any planning and was decided on Friday night.

Our first destination was Tan's nyonya food recommended by Melacca boy - SK. Although I have been to Melacca many times, this is the first time I visit this place. If you're not a local or know this place, it'll be hard to find. There's a narrow wooden staircase which lead to the shop located at 1st floor.

I'll never missed the Nyonya Laksa meanwhile for others who can't take spicy food had ordered Pongteh Chicken Rice. Last but not least - the famous cendol with sago.

The strong smell of the coconut milk with Gula Melacca blend well and give a very nice taste to the cendol.

After the breakfast, we loaf around Melacca which has listed as one of UNESCO's World Heritage. Melacca River is cleaner than before with the newly build windmill to add some color to Melacca River.

In the center of the city located famous Dutch Square or known as Red Square because of the crimson coloured old buildings around that area such as Stadthuys and Christ Church Melaka.

See, they're trying to steal the cannon.

There's are alot of museum around that area. Museum of Architecture is one of the museum which has free entrace. Sam fully utilize it and have a nap there. Haha....

After long walk, lunch time again. Famous 'Hai Nan Chicken Rice Ball' was our savour. I think Malaysia is the first who thought of turning the normal chicken rice into rice ball. I have visited this shop during my last visit to Melacca - 'Hoe Kee Chicken Rice' which located at Jonker Walk. Other specialty are the asam fish head, black bean soup and lotus root soup.

KS mistaken the chicken rice ball as the fish ball. Haha...

Chicken with internal organ and cucumber. If you don't like internal organ, do mention it when you place ordered. Ended up in RM 51.00 with 5 coconut (RM4.00 per each).

It's time to move again. 'Jonker Walk' was our next detination. I'll never forgot my mum order which is the nyonya pineapple tart recommended by my uncle last time.

Found this famous nyonya pineapple tarts shop - LW Pineapple Tarts House with a giant pineapple tart display in front the shop. The giant tart was recorded as the largest pineapple tart in Malaysia. It was so famous that even DiGi 'Yellow Man' visited this place before.

Sam half of Melacca boy highly recommended us to eat the famous mollusks dishes with special sos at the street alley. The small little table and chair is almost extinct in Malaysia. That was the first time I saw this kind of arrangement.

Mussel or 'Si Ham' was Sam's favourite. Initially I wanted to try it out but once saw the bloody 'Si Ham', I stopped my intention. We have ordered a plate of fried bean curd and 2 plate of 'Si Ham' and it cost us RM22 in total. It was pretty expensive.

After having tea time, we found "Newton Cultura Food Village". I ordered something light - Chao Zou style 'Lei Cha' instead of Hakka style. The food are pretty cheap.

Our journey ended at the river bank opposite "The Eye of Malaysia". HK has acrophobia thus we just enjoy it from far. According to my cousin RM10 for 5 round with MyKad or else it's RM20.
